Pipe cutters are highly efficient manual tools engineered to deliver perfectly square, 90-degree cuts on tubular materials. Unlike hacksaws or abrasive angle grinders, a dedicated pipe cutter cleanly severs the tube without generating internal metal shavings, sparks, or heat distortion, leaving a burr-free edge that is instantly ready for threading or press-fitting. The most prevalent design is the roller cutter: the pipe is cradled by guide rollers while a hardened cutting wheel is gradually fed into the metal as the tool is rotated. For extremely confined spaces (such as pipes bolted flat against a wall or buried in a trench), low-clearance chain pipe cutters or ratcheting snap cutters are indispensable.
