Rasps

A rasp is a specialized manual abrasive tool that visually resembles a standard metal file but differs radically in its tooth structure. Instead of continuous linear ridges, a rasp features large, sharp, individually cut triangular teeth. This unique design makes it the ultimate tool for the rapid, aggressive, and rough shaping of softer materials such as solid wood, particleboard, plastics, drywall, alabaster, leather, and soft non-ferrous metals. The primary advantage of a rasp is that the wide spacing between its individual teeth prevents the tool from clogging with sawdust or shavings during heavy use. Based on their cross-section, they are available in flat, round, and half-round profiles (perfect for shaping convex/concave curves and enlarging holes).
